In Season 1, kids will learn how to build an entire mobile game from scratch. Kids will brainstorm game concepts, draw the characters and visuals that will serve as the core elements of their game, and use AI to iteratively translate the concept into code (with the heavy help of their instructor). We'll end the season by adding game magic like voice recordings, special effects, and other goodies to make the game feel awesome!

Track 1:
Jr. Game Builders (Ages 4-7)

Game Brainstorming

Week of May 4th

We'll map out game concepts, ideas, and character stories. We'll draw out in pictures what our future game will look like and how it will play.

Session 1

Visual Design

Week of May 11th

We'll create visuals to import into our game. We'll use a mix of pattern matching, AI, and hand-drawings to create the game's look and feel.

Session 2

Logic & Mechanics I

Week of May 18th

We'll roll-up our sleeves and start coding. Kids will share their ideas and their instructor will implement them in real-time. Our game is going live!

Session 3

Logic & Mechanics II

Week of May 25th

More features! More ideas! This is where kids start to get creative. They will start to see vision turn into realities, and their ideas will really start flowing.

Session 4

Debugging

Week of Jun 1st

Any game build comes with bugs. Kids will learn to spot and identify problems in their game and come up with solutions.

Session 5

Special Effects

Week of Jun 8th

Sound effects, music, animations, and goodies. This is where kids get to throw magic pixie dust at their game and see what happens.

Session 6

Wrap-Up

Week of Jun 15th

It's the home stretch! We'll be applying finishing touches, fixing bugs, and finalizing the last set of features. Kids will learn the lesson that: Sometimes... Done is Better than Perfect!

Session 7

Showcase

Week of Jun 22nd

Kids will have a fun celebration showcasing their game. They'll create videos describing what they've created and reflect on their journey. Time to play their masterpiece!

Session 8

Track 2:
Sr. Game Builders (Ages 8-13)

AI Development 101

Week of May 4th

We're going to start head-first exposing students to what's possible with AI. We'll show how we can take an idea and quickly spin it into a working prototype in minutes. We'll use this as a foundation for the rest of the program.

Session 1

Game Brainstorming

Week of May 11th

We'll consider all the other types of games kids in the class have been exposed to. We'll pull down examples and think about how we can replicate the best parts of what makes these games so fun. We'll brainstorm ideas and sketch out the parameters of our own concept.

Session 2

Prototyping

Week of May 18th

We'll start using AI to build out the prototype of our game itself. Students will get a chance to create features and see how their ideas, turn to code, and then turn into reality.

Session 3

Logic & Mechanics

Week of May 25th

Kids will get a crash course on the challenges of iterating game logic. AI can get you a simple prototype quickly, but getting that prototype to a polished model can be a grind. So grind away we will!

Session 4

Feature Blitz

Week of Jun 1st

They understand the engine. They understand the process. Now it's time to push their creativity to the max. We'll quickly add features to our game to make it more complex and more compelling.

Session 5

Feature Refinement

Week of Jun 8th

Scoreboards? Multi-player Mode? More levels? It's time for more features and more ideas. The sky is the limit at this point

Session 6

Game Wrap-Up

Week of Jun 15th

We'll be putting together our finishing touches, fixing bugs, finalizing the last set of features, and polishing the game. Time to finish strong!

Session 7

Showcase

Week of Jun 22nd

Kids will have a fun celebration showcasing their game. They'll create videos describing what they've created and reflect on their journey. Time to play their masterpiece!

Session 8
